Nothing final about this franchise.

The teen horror franchise returns, despite the previous instalment declaring itself to be The Final Destination.

A spectacular suspension bridge collapse – which ranks among the series' best opening sequences – leaves a group of survivors waiting for death to come and collect them, via a series of creatively executed death scenes (in 3D).

Standout kills in FD5 include a bone-crunching gymnastic dismount and an eye-opening bit of laser corrective surgery. There's also a neat tie-in that brings the franchise full circle.

Genre star Tony Todd also makes a welcome return as the sinister coroner who knows all about death's design.

STARRING: Nicholas D'Agosto, Miles Fisher, Emma Bell

Extras: • Special Effects Split Screens • Alternate Death Scenes

After the disaster that was the fourth movie, I had expected this film to be just the same. I didn't go to the cinemas to watch it because of that thought. Now I regret that decision. As a big fan of The Final Destination franchise, I very much enjoyed this movie. It held the essence of the first Final Destination, and that's what made it more enjoyable. Unlike the previous movies, this movie wasn't all just about blood and gory death scenes; it had a solid storyline with decent actors and the twist was good. The movie held so much suspense that my breathing was slowed down as I kept waiting to see what was about to happen. It took a new turn than the previous movies and changed the story. Then the twist came. I was in shock. I instantly knew what the twist was. I was jumping up and down in my seat, squealing with exhilaration. Overall, Final Destination 5 is a near perfect film, and one of my favourite movies of the franchise

So much for The Final Destination being the final film in this series! No 5 does has the best opening sequence of them all, and it's good to see Tony Todd back. Really, this series can go on indefinitely, provided the filmmakers can keep coming up with increasingly novel and spectacular death scenes. Although its incredibly gory, this series has always been less mean spirited than the Saw films and the kills are so wild it's impossible to take them seriously.
