Kiwi writer-director Andrew Niccol revisits the futuristic themes of his breakthrough movie Gattaca, but this time around adds a healthy splash of Logan’s Run to the proceedings.

The premise here is that everyone stops ageing when they hit 25 – the catch is that your clock will be turned off permanently unless you continually top it up with ‘minutes’ earned through work or illegal activities.

Justin Timberlake plays an ordinary blue collar worker who vows to bring down the system after his mother (Olivia Wilde) literally runs out of time, and he is unexpectedly gifted with 100 years of life following a chance encounter with a jaded millionaire sick of life.

Amanda Seyfrield is a wealthy heiress who becomes an unlikely ally, while Cillian Murphy is the dogged cop on their trail.

Unlike the more cerebral Gattaca, Niccol plays this mainly for thrills but it’s an exhilarating ride all the same.

STARRING: Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfrield, Olivia Wilde

Extras: • The Minutes – 16 min featurette (BD) • Deleted and Extended Scenes (BD)

Did You Know...? While the movie was about people who would look 25 years old until they die, Amanda Seyfried is actually the only significant character who was 25 during filming. Also, in real life, Justin Timberlake is older than Olivia Wilde, who plays his mother in the film.

Good idea, average movie. The inspiration is obviously Logan's Run, but I'll take Michael York and Jenny Agutter over J. Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. It's also frustrating when a sci-fi film contradicts its own rules, as In Time does on a number of occasions.

A great movie, unremarkably unique and incredibly interesting, it's different to anything else with such an original concept. The lead actors were a perfect pairing and it's an eye-opening, action-packed film!
