A pure, sensitive voice – and impeccable taste in her choice of material ever present throughout a recording career that began in 1975 – has made Mary Black a major artist in her native Ireland, and in other parts of the world.
A strong supporter of Australian songwriters, she’s included works by Paul Kelly, Shane Howard, Neil Murray and Eric Bogle on her first studio album in six years. Her roots are in Irish folk, but she’s unafraid to investigate other genres: see duets with Imelda May, Janis Ian and Finbar Furey.
